I travel to Winstar World Casino about once a week to play poker. It’s about 4 1/2 hours from west Austin, where I live. I’ve played poker all over the world, and the Winstar poker room is one of my favorite places to play. That being said, if you’re not a poker player, you might not like like the place as well as I do. Part of WinStar World Casino & Resort The Winstar Casinos (Palace, Mariachi and Center Ring) casinos share the same 46-table, non-smoking poker room (located in the New York Gaming Plaza).The poker room is huge at 20,220 square feet with 20 plasma TV’s, 40 open tables, and a high limit area with 6 poker tables. New room is very average. Chairs and tables are so so. Plenty of TVs and a self serve drink station for sodas. Dealers are average to weak. Most of the better dealers are on a first name basis with the regulars and can create awkward situations at times by saying more than the should. Always a few inexperienced dealers that have a difficult time keeping up. Best part of the room is the players. Great mix of experienced players and players that want to play after watching the WSOP for the first time. Hard to not be profitable if you know what you’re doing.
